Neuromuscular conditions are rare, with over 100 types affecting around 20,000 Australians. Diagnosis can be lengthy, and reliable information is often inaccessible or too technical. The community needs a comprehensive resource to aid in understanding and managing these conditions, while fostering social engagement.
Funded by an NDIA ILC Grant, the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, in collaboration with VML, developed an all-inclusive digital platform. This resource provides accessible condition information, community-driven life advice, and opportunities for connection. It was designed with input from the Neuromuscular Community Reference Group to ensure it met the needs of individuals and their support networks.
The platform offers digestible information tailored to user experiences, with features like editable and shareable condition guides and peer-based content. It meets WCAG 2.0 AA standards and includes a language translation function for accessibility in 108 languages. User-friendly design enhancements, tested for accessibility, empower users to engage with content effortlessly.
