Nine students from the Wielkopolska region participated in the IT challenge for primary schools. Wiktor Perskawiec from the John Paul II Primary School in Moskurnia proved to be the best. The competition was organized for the 7th time by the Zespół Szkół Łączności in Poznań, supported by VML Enterprise Solutions.

The finalists faced three tasks that required creativity and programming skills. Their tasks included creating a salad bar website, writing a console application (in C++ or Python) for calculating prices, and analyzing sales data in a spreadsheet. Alongside Wiktor Perskawiec on the podium were Antoni Idczak from Primary School No. 34 in Poznań (2nd place) and Leonard Królczyk from Primary School No. 56 in Poznań (3rd place). Students and their teachers were honored with commemorative diplomas, electronic prizes, and books, funded by VML Enterprise Solutions, which sponsors the programming class at ZSŁ.

This is the seventh edition of the "Best Programmer of Poznań" competition. Students first face a challenge in the school stage, where they have one hour to answer 20 questions on computer science knowledge. The best advance to the final - says Ms. Paulina Rejewska, the competition organizer from ZSŁ - The tasks this year were very demanding, but the students were very well prepared. We hope that they will be future IT specialists and programmers.

While the students were struggling with the tasks, their guardians listened to a lecture on cybersecurity, which was given by Dr. Eng. Paweł Pirosz, a lecturer at the Faculty of Computer Science and Telecommunications at the Poznań University of Technology.

Additionally, the students had the opportunity to learn more about artificial intelligence during a lecture by Dr. Jędrzej Osiński, author of the book "Cunning Machines" and a business analyst at VML Enterprise Solutions. - The listeners turned out to be an extremely active audience, with many comments and questions. This shows that both students and their teachers are aware that we live in a time of technological revolution. It is difficult to predict what the world will look like in five years. That is why enthusiasm, openness, and curiosity are so important - concluded Osiński.
