Adscan by Makro turns brands’ ads into a new commerce platform and media budget into discounts.
Makro is a supermarket chain that offers thousands of products at the best prices. But they have fewer stores and only 4% of the media budget of competitors – leaving millions of people unaware of their benefits.
Makro may not have a large media investment, but the brands it sells in its stores does. So we let advertising do the job – theirs, not ours.
We capitalized by hacking brands’ outdoor advertising and directing them to Makro’s e-commerce platform to buy products at a discount, benefitting both Makro and the brands that invest in advertising – and the more brands advertise, the more chances Makro has to sell their products.
To do this, Adscan recognizes the product image through Google Vision Cloud and uses Open AI to detect the products from our stock and generate an offer to buy it. Additionally, people can compare prices and fill a virtual shopping cart to get more benefits. So the more brands advertise, the more chances are that we sell their products.
While others were advertising their products, we were seamlessly integrating them into our catalog.
