The Accountant is a key member of the Finance team, responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment. The Accountant will contribute to the overall financial health and stability of the organization by providing accurate and insightful financial information to support decision-making.

Responsibilities:

  • General Accounting:
    • Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and completeness of all transactions.
    • Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications.
    • Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and other balance sheet accounts.
    • Manage fixed asset accounting, including depreciation calculations and asset tracking.
    • Assist with the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
    • Prepare and analyze financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement).
    • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable:
    • Process accounts payable invoices, ensuring proper coding and approval.
    • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
    • Manage accounts receivable, including invoicing, collections, and cash application.
    • Monitor aging reports and follow up on past-due accounts.
  • Financial Reporting & Analysis:
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review.
    • Analyze financial data and identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
    • Assist with the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
    • Develop and maintain financial models to support business decisions.
    • Provide financial analysis and support to other departments as needed.
  • Compliance & Audit:
    • Assist with internal and external audits, providing documentation and explanations as required.
    • Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
    • Prepare and file tax returns (e.g., sales tax, property tax).
    • Maintain accurate and organized financial records to support audit trails.
    • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Process Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and procedures.
    • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
    • Document accounting policies and procedures.
  • Other Duties:
    • Assist with special projects as assigned by the Senior Accountant/Finance Manager.
    • Stay up-to-date on accounting regulations and best practices.
    • Provide support and training to other members of the Finance team.

Role Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., dolphin, SAP, Oracle NetSuite). 
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros).
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
  • Experience with financial reporting and analysis.
  • Certifications (Preferred): CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification is a plus.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve accounting issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in Advertising industry is a plus.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.

   

Position’s Requirements:
