Who We Are:
At VML, we are a beacon of innovation and growth in an ever-evolving world. Our heritage is built upon a century of combined expertise, where creativity meets technology, and diverse perspectives ignite inspiration. With the merger of VMLY&R and Wunderman Thompson, we have forged a new path as a growth partner that is part creative agency, part consultancy, and part technology powerhouse.
Our global family now encompasses over 30,000 employees across 150+ offices in 64 markets, each contributing to a culture that values connection, belonging, and the power of differences. Our expertise spans the entire customer journey, offering deep insights in communications, commerce, consultancy, CRM, CX, data, production, and technology. We deliver end-to-end solutions that result in revolutionary work.
We are looking for a Freelance Senior UX Designer to join our CX team and drive the design efforts for our digital products.
Reporting to the Head of Customer Experience, you will work closely alongside designers, developers, copywriters and business stakeholders to lead the creation and delivery of compelling and elegant digital experiences for our clients’ customers across multiple client accounts.
The role is predominantly focused on the research, strategy and definition of experiences – this is not just a visual design role, you will spend as much time in Miro, Word and Excel as you will in Figma, and your experience and portfolio must demonstrate this.
Duration: 3 months+ (with potential extension).
To be considered for this role you will have:
- At least five years agency experience and be able to show a portfolio of sketches, maps, diagrams, journey maps and wireframes.
- Expertise designing end-to-end, from research to hi-fidelity outputs.
- Ability to develop information architecture flows, user personas, customer journey maps, and other UX documentation.
- A passion for UX and the digital world, with a good awareness of current trends and emerging technologies.
- A proven track record of leading large scale projects in a collaborative manner.
- The experience to plan as well as facilitate a UX focused workshop.
- Excellent time-management skills and be able to balance work across multiple projects.
- Experience of designing multi-channel digital experiences.
- Previously mentored UX colleagues beneath you.
- Have a creative eye and were able to produce aesthetically pleasing outputs.
- Have experience with experimentation and A/B testing projects.
It would also be a bonus if you:
- Have experience across the spectrum of user research methods, both planning and facilitating.
- Have experience researching and mapping omnichannel experiences.
- Have any comprehension of cognitive science or behavioural economics.
You should be:
- Already in possession of a visa to work in the UAE.
- Able to travel to the office daily, this is not a remote role.
- Willing to dedicate normal working hours (9-6) to VML, not in parallel with other working commitments.
- Able to focus on the fine detail of a problem, whilst considering the wider strategic context.
- As happy working with pen and paper as on a Mac.
- Able to visually and verbally communicate your ideas effectively to clients and colleagues alike — be that in a daily standup, a workshop or socially after work.
- Diplomatic and have the ability to resolve problems using your own initiative.
- Able to play nicely with account teams, planners, designers, developers and other talented types throughout the agency and wider network.
