VML Luxembourg

VML Luxembourg is one of the leading Amazon consulting agencies in Europe. Offering 360° services for Amazon, we have a diverse range of products and services in various sectors to ensure long-term sales growth, ranging from creating multilingual content and listings to all aspects of advertising, including sales promotion, PPC and programmatic campaigns. We are part of WPP, the world’s largest digital media agency, and manage WPP’s European Center of Excellence for Amazon (ACE) dedicated to maximising performance, driving sales and building brands on the Amazon platform.

The opportunity:

The CTO will lead and manage the IT department at VML Luxembourg, overseeing all aspects of technology strategy, development, and operations. This includes managing a team of 12, including a remote team based in Morocco, developing and maintaining internal tools, and providing comprehensive IT support to all 90 employees across the organization. The CTO will play a crucial role in aligning technology initiatives with business objectives, driving innovation, and ensuring the efficient and secure operation of all IT systems.

What you’ll be doing:

Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and mentor a team of 12 IT professionals, including performance management, career development, and team building.
  • Effectively manage a remote team based in Morocco, fostering collaboration and communication.
  • Oversee the recruitment, onboarding, and training of new IT staff.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the IT department.

 

Technology Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and implement a long-term technology roadmap aligned with VML Luxembourg's business goals.
  • Research and evaluate emerging technologies and their potential impact on the business.
  • Propose and justify technology investments to senior management.
  • Ensure alignment of IT strategy with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.

 

Software Development and Maintenance:

  • Oversee the development, testing, and deployment of internal software tools.
  • Manage the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to quality standards and deadlines.
  • Implement and maintain version control systems and other development tools.
  • Promote code quality, security, and maintainability.

 

IT Operations and Support:

  • Ensure the reliable and secure operation of all IT systems, including network infrastructure, servers, and end-user devices.
  • Manage IT vendors and service providers.
  • Develop and implement IT policies and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to all employees, addressing hardware, software, and network issues.

 

Project Management:

  • Oversee all IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
  • Manage project risks and issues.
  • Communicate project status to stakeholders.

 

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the IT department's annual budget.
  • Track IT spending and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and service providers.

What we want from you:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven experience in managing remote teams.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Experience with a variety of programming languages and technologies 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience managing IT budgets and vendors.
  • Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages, such as French/Arabic, would be beneficial.

  • This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of business operations and the ability to translate business needs into technology solutions.
  • The CTO will be expected to stay up-to-date on the latest technology trends and proactively identify opportunities to leverage technology for competitive advantage.
  • Experience working in the Digital Marketing services industry would be a plus.
