Senior Data Engineer (Advanced Audience Modelling)

Are you a cutting-edge thinker with a passion for leveraging the latest in strongly typed data pipelines, AI-powered anomaly detection and cloud-first compute systems? Do you want to join an existing, high-output team of academic and professional experts to tackle some of the most complex challenges in advertising? If so, we’d love to meet you.

Our team is embarking on a highly strategic project at the intersection of data science, advertising technology, and audience insights, with a focus on privacy-friendly predictive modelling for audience segmentation and targeting. The system you'll be designing will support 1/3rd of the world's ad campaigns, so the scope is huge, and the success of our team depends on our ability in the near term to demonstrate to key stakeholders the superiority of our system, and then follow up on that promise in the mid-long term.

What You’ll Do:

  • Collaborate with a high-performing team to explore, design, and implement proprietary models based on contemporary research papers. Your role will have a focus on designing and building out the supporting data pipelines and cloud infrastructure.
  • Implement AI-powered anomaly detection frameworks to help us discover signal loss of data degradation in our pipelines.
  • Explore advanced audience segmentation strategies using massive, multi-dimensional data sets spanning behavioural, social, and content engagement patterns.
  • Leverage your expertise in and experience with well-architected distributed compute systems and integrated ML solutions to accelerate our journey towards a privacy-first future for the ad tech industry.
  • Work on the full software engineering lifecycle, from first design to initial implementation, to maintenance of stable products everyone relies on.

Who You Are:

  • You have a strong academic background (PhD or Master’s in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Data Science, or a related field).
  • You’re passionate about solving real-world problems with advanced models and scalable architecture.
  • Proven experience in at least one strongly typed language such as Scala, Rust, Go or similar
  • You have a track record of delivering end-to-end software engineering projects and deploying them at scale, with a focus on measurable results.
  • A strong communicator who thrives in collaborative environments and is eager to learn from and mentor others.
  • You know how to land on your feet when priorities change. You want to work in a high-throughput environment.

Bonus Points:

  • If you have experience with multiple programming languages and particularly functional programming languages
  • If you have contributed to one or more open-source projects

Why Join Us?

  • Be a key player in shaping the future of privacy-first advertising and audience modelling using cutting-edge AI techniques and highly performant computing systems.
  • Join an elite team where your research and technical contributions will have a direct impact on strategic outcomes. Work with massive, industry-scale data sets and the latest machine learning techniques.
  • Growth opportunities; collaborate with leading minds in the field, present your work at major industry conferences, and push the boundaries of applied machine learning.

If you’re ready to innovate and collaborate on high-stakes projects with real-world impact, apply now to join my team and help us redefine the future of audience modelling.
